10.21.19 | Men's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA –After picking up a huge conference win over USF on Friday, senior goalkeeper Simon Lefebvre was named the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week and freshman Sean Karani earned a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll for their efforts in the 3-1 victory. Lefebvre's honors are his first of the year but third of his career and Karani earned Honor Roll nods for the second straight week. Karani was also named the Philly Soccer Six Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.
Lefebvre has been phenomenal between the posts for Temple this season, conceding just 12 goals in as many games for a conference-leading goals against average of 0.97. The senior notched five saves to back the Owls' 3-1 win over USF and has been a critical leader in net for Temple all season. He's played all 1115 minutes for Temple this season and has saved 31 shots along the way, accumulating a 72% save percentage.
Karani has been a spark in the Temple offense over the past two weeks, netting a team-leading three goals in the Owls' past two games. Against USF, he led the Temple offense with four points from two goals to propel the squad to the critical 3-1 conference victory. The Wichita, Ks. native was a threat in the attacking third all evening against the Bulls, notching his first goal in the 61st minute to put the Cherry and White up by two and finding the insurance goal in the 87th minute to seal the victory for the Owls. Karani fired off three shots with two on goals, both of which found the back of the net, and moved to the top of Temple's offensive output list with seven points on the season (3g, 2a).
The Owls are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 22 when they take on RV Louisville. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
