Field Hockey Blanks Villanova, Goes 2-1 in Big 5 Play

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple field hockey team snapped its three-game losing streak Friday night with a shut out of Villanova. With the win, the team improved to 6-8 (2-4 Big East) overall and 2-1 in Big 5 play.
Recapping the Game
> Though the game was slow to start, the Owls controlled the ball for the majority of the game.
> The Owls created several scoring chances, earning six penalty corners and two penalty strokes.
> Senior Lucy Reed took the first shot for Temple with a penalty stroke, but a save from the Wildcats kept the team off the board.
> Junior Dani Batze scored the eventual game-winner off a penalty corner, with Nienke Oerlemans giving the Owls the go-ahead before the first half came to a close.
