Temple Alum Brandon Matthews' Act of Kindness Goes Viral

11.19.19 | Men's Golf

Little did Temple men's golf alum Brandon Matthews know that a simple act human kindness would go viral.

The Owl All-American lost the Argentine Open on the third hole of a playoff after a man, who has downs syndrome, disrupted his eight-foot birdie putt by screaming on the Dupont, Pa, native's backswing.   Matthews, initially upset as the disturbance caused him a chance at the championship which carried with it a coveted exemption to The Open Championship.

When Matthews, who starred at Temple from 2012-16, was informed that the person who screamed suffers from Downs Syndrome he quickly reached out to the man, making sure he was alright.  He hugged him and autographed one of his golf gloves.  Below are some national stories on the selfless act of compassion.
