STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Temple fencing squad closed out individual competition with a bang as five Owls earned podium finishes. Freshman Margherita Calderaro took first in epee as the Owls' highest finisher of the meet.
Meet Results
> The epee squad saw all five fencers finish in the top-25. Senior Quinn Duwelius finished 20th, while freshman Sarah Park finished 21st and Marielle Luke finished 22nd.
> Calderaro earned the top finish after defeating fellow Owl Naomi Ross in a tight 15-13 semifinal match-up. Ross tied for a third-place finish on the day.
> The foil squad saw all four fencers earn a top-25 finish, with three finishing in the top-15. Sophomore Cassie Navalta earned a 24th place finish, while Kennedy Lovelace finished in 14th place and Megan Ross finished 11th.
> Aryana Abtin was the foil squad's highest finisher, tying for third-place after falling 15-10 in the semifinals to eventual champion Lodovica Biceogo of Penn State.
> All four sabre fencers earned top-15 finishes, with three finishing in the top-10. Freshmen Emma Pincus earned a 14th place finish while Zoe Turner finished seventh.
> Senior Malia Hee tied for third after falling 15-10 to Kelli Wozniak of Penn State. Senior Kerry Plunkett fell in the finals in a razor thin decision, coming back from being down 12-7 before eventually being defeated 15-14.
