Men’s Tennis to Host Hofstra, Wagner and Lehigh to Kick off Home Stretch

PHILADELPHIA—Temple men's tennis (5-6, 1-1 AAC) begins its five-match home stand on Thursday, March 21 as it hosts Hofstra at 9 a.m. at the Legacy Tennis Center. The squad will play outdoor at the TU Pavilion for the first time this season against Lehigh on Friday, March 22 and Lehigh on Sunday, Match 24. Both of these matches are set to start at 10 a.m.
The Owls
> The team is led by head coach Steve Mauro, who is in his 13th year at the helm of the men's program.
> Last time out, Temple fell in a tight match against Penn, 4-3 on Sunday, March 17. Alberto Caceres Casas, Paolo Cucalon and Eric Biscoveanu each notched victories in singles for the Owls.
> The pairs of Casas and Mark Wallner and Uladzimir Dorash and Cucalon have been impressive in doubles play. Casas and Wallner boast an 8-2 record at first doubles and are ranked No. 58 in the nation. Dorash and Cucalon are 7-3 on the season, playing in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
> In singles, Wallner and Cucalon have been superb, owning 8-2 and 7-2 records, respectively.
Scouting Hofstra
> Hofstra is led by Jason Pasion, who is in his third year as head coach of the Pride.
> The Pride are 9-4 this season, with its losses coming against UConn, Morgan State, Navy and Fordham.
> Last time out, Hofstra competed in a doubleheader against Coppin State and Loyola Maryland on Tuesday, March 19. The Pride swept both teams, 7-0, dropping just one set between the two matches.
Scouting Wagner
> Wagner is led by head coach Shem Filipek, who is in his second season at the helm of the Seahawks.
