Lacrosse Plays at UMBC on Saturday at Noon

PHILADELPHIA - Coming off a win earlier this week at La Salle, Temple lacrosse will look to keep the road momentum going as the Owls (2-4) head to UMBC (2-3) for a noon game on Saturday, March 9.Â
Scouting Temple
> The Owls are 2-4 this season and coming off a 13-10 win at city rival La Salle on March 5. In Temple's other city rivalry game on Feb. 21, the Owls lost 17-8 at Saint Joseph's.
> Junior Maddie Gebert leads the Owls with 13 goals and 14 total points, followed by junior Olivia Thompson with 10 goals and junior Julia Ryan with eight goals.
> Thompson exploded for a career-high six goals in the Owls' 12-10, come-from-behind win at Rutgers on Feb. 13 and was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. Gebert also notched a hat trick in that victory with three goals.
> On Feb. 26, Temple and Lafayette played back-and-forth lacrosse until the Leopards scored four straight to end the game. Senior Amber Lambeth notched her first hat trick of the season for the Owls.
> Sophomore Bridget Whitaker tallied her second career hat trick at Saint Joseph's, leading Temple with three goals.
> Junior Kara Nakrasius has a team-best 27 draw controls while Lambeth has 21 draws and seven caused turnovers. Sophomores Jen Rodzewich and Courtney Taylor lead the Owls with eight caused turnovers each.
> Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Martin made her first career start at La Salle, making seven saves and recording her first victory.  Â

> The Retrievers are 2-3 this season, most recently falling to Lehigh on March 2 by a score of 15-7.
> UMBC won two games to open the year, but has since lost three straight including an 18-1 defeat at the hands of #2 Maryland.
> Payton Van Kirk leads UMBC with 11 total points, scoring seven goals and adding four assists. Lauren McDonald and  Zoë Pekins have scored seven goals each.Â
> Goalkeeper Carly Tolino ranks 18th in the nation in total saves (52) and 21st in saves per game (10.40).
