Temple University Mourns the Passing of Football Great Mike Busch

PHILADELPHIA – Mike Busch, who starred with the Temple football team from 1966 through 1968 and later served the state of Maryland as a member of its House of Delegates since 1986 and as its' Speaker of the House since 2003, passed away Sunday. He was 72.
A native of Annapolis, Md., Mr. Busch was the star running back on the Owls and a key member of the 1967 team that posted a 7-2 record and 4-0 conference mark in winning the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship. The talented back also set a school record for rushing yards (176) and carries (38) in a 13-8 win at Bucknell (11/4/67).
Mr. Busch earned his bachelor's degree in education from Temple in 1970, and returned to Annapolis to coach and teach prior to his long and distinguished political career.
Mr. Busch will lie in state at the Maryland State House from 1 to 7 pm Monday, April 15 and 8 to 10 am Tuesday, April 16.
