Women’s Basketball Set for Thursday Night Matchup with USF

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball team looks to extend their winning streak to five as they host conference opponent USF Thursday, Jan. 16 at McGonigle Hall for a 7 p.m. tip.
THE OWLS
> Temple is coming off an 85-62 win over SMU to improve their record to 10-6 on the year and 3-1 in the American Athletic Conference.
> Mia Davis has registered a double-double in the last seven games as she averages a double-double of 19.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per contest to lead the Owls. Davis also leads the conference in rebounds per game.
> Davis totals 11 double-doubles thus far this season, ranking third-most in the country.
> Ashley Jones is the Owls' second highest scorer with 16.1 points per game. Jones adds 5.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per outing.
> Freshman Asonah Alexander leads both Temple and the American in assists per game with 5.3. Her assist/turnover ratio of 3.36 is not only a conference-best but ranks third in the nation. In the win over SMU the rookie tallied a career-high 10 assists.
> Marissa Mackins is Temple's third player to average double-digit points with her 13.5 efforts each game. Mackins is the Owls' leading three-point shooter with 46 three-pointers on the year and a 35.1% three-point shooting percentage.
> Lena Niang adds 7.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game for Temple.
LAST TIME OUT: Temple 85, SMU 62
> The Owls collected their fourth-straight win on Jan. 11 with a big 85-62 victory over SMU.
> Temple led from start to finish, using huge advantages in the first and third quarters to set the tone of the game.
> The Owls led by 11 at the half and increased that lead to 34 points early in the fourth quarter before Temple emptied its bench.
> The Cherry and White shot 45.9% for the game to SMU's 31.5%, while the Owls connected on 10 threes, holding the Mustangs to just three from long range.
