No. 7 Fencing to Compete at Philadelphia Invitational

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 7 Temple fencing team will stay in the City of Brotherly Love for the weekend, heading to Penn for the Philadelphia Invitational Sunday.

Coming off a 4-1 meet at the Penn State Invite last weekend, the Owls will face three Top-10 programs in No. 5 Ohio State, No. 9 Northwestern, and No. 10 Penn. The team will also face Yale, Wayne State, and NJIT. Temple has already faced Yale this season, narrowly falling 14-13 to the Bulldogs last weekend, and NJIT, defeating the Highlanders 17-10 at the Penn Elite Meet in November.

The Owls were successful in State College, Pa., defeating No. 3 Columbia 14-13 and No. 6 Penn State 14-13. Junior Marielle Luke went undefeated on the day, while freshmen Margherita Calderaro and Zoe Turner went 9-3 in their respective weapons. Senior Kennedy Lovelace led the foilists, going. The sabre squad went 4-1 while the epee squad went 3-2.

Competition at the Tse Center is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. and will last all day.
