Football Ready For Second Consecutive Road Game Against Tulane

After a loss on the road to Memphis, the Owls complete their only two-game road trip as they travel to New Orleans to take on Tulane on October 31. Kickoff is set for 12:00pm and will air on ESPN+ and 97.5 The Fanatic.
Last Week
The Owls lost their second game of the season last Saturday against Memphis, 41-29. Temple led 15-10 at the half, but consecutive turnovers on its first two possessions of the second half led to 17 straight points by Memphis. The Owls traded touchdowns with the Tigers thoughout the next 10 minutes to keep the game within one score, but a Memphis touchdown with just over two minutes remaining virtually ended the game. Temple QB Anthony Russo passed for 387 and four touchdowns, three to wide receiver Jadan Blue. Russo set Temple school records for completions (41) and attempts (63) in leading the Owls to 500 total yards of offense. Â His 387 passing yards ranks eighth on the Owls' all-time list, however he was intercepted three times in the contest. Â Blue set a new career-high with his three touchdowns and tied his career-high with 13 catches. Randle Jones also set new highs with 12 catches for 118 yards. Â Re'Mahn Davis also had a big day, rushing 20 times for 113 yards.

Last Time vs. Tulane
The last time the Owls and the Green Wave faced off was November 16, 2019. A close contest between the two sides ultimately ended in a 29-21 home win for Temple that pushed the Owls to 7-3 on the season. Temple came out swinging early, jumping out to a 13-0 lead midway through the second quarter thanks to two field goals from Will Mobley and a four-yard touchdown from Todd Centeio to Kenny Yeboah. Entering the fourth quarter, the Owls held a 15 point lead (22-7), however that did not stop the Green Wave from scoring 14 of their 21 points in the quarter. The Owls defense stood tall on multiple drives to end the game, forcing a turnover on downs with just over two minutes remaining in the game before Quincy Roche recorded two sacks on Tulane's final drive of the game to thwart the comeback attempt. Russo and Blue had a strong connection all game, with Blue finishing with 12 receptions, 131 yards and a touchdown that came in the fourth quarter to make it a two-score game. Yeboah was also a key piece on offense, catching two touchdown passes, one in each half. On defense, Roche dominated up front, finishing the game with three sacks, six tackles for loss and 12 total tackles. Roche's six tackles for loss set an all-time Temple and American Athletic Conference record.Â

When Temple last visited Yulman Stadium on November 19, 2016, they came out victorious in a lopsided affair, with a final score of 31-0. The Owls put up points in each quarter, led by senior quarterback Phillip Walker's passing attack. His favorite target, sophomore Ventell Bryant, hauled in nine receptions for a career-high 168 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown came in the third quarter, making the score 17-0, however the Owls kept on rolling, scoring two more touchdowns in the second half. Temple's defense kept the Tulane offense at bay, allowing only 24 yards passing and 164 total yards for the entire game. Redshirt senior Haason Reddick and sophomore Delvon Randall led the way on defense, with both players having two tackles for loss and a pass breakup each. The victory put the Owls record at 8-3 with a conference record of 6-1 on their way to the American Athletic Conference Championship.
