Temple Falls at #6/7 Houston to Open AAC Play

HOUSTON - The Temple men's basketball team fell, 76-50, at No. 6/7 Houston Tuesday night to open American Athletic Conference play. The Owls drop to 1-1 overall (0-1 AAC) while the preseason conference favorite Cougars improve to 6-0.
Recapping the Game
> Houston struck first, going up 3-0 on a trey from Quintin Grimes before going on a 10-3 run.
> Temple's first field goal came from J.P. Moorman II, knocking down a three-pointer and a jumper to put the score at 13-8.
> The Cougars went on their third of five runs, going up 25-10 for their largest lead of the first half before the Temple defense held Houston without a field goal for over five minutes. The Owls went into halftime down 32-22, with Moorman's 10 points leading both teams.
> Temple opened the second half with back to back buckets from Jake Forrester, cutting the deficit to eight points, but the Cougars went on a 20-6 run to take their largest lead of the game (55-30).
> The Owls fought back and were able to chip away at the deficit, but the Cougar offense was too much for Temple, who could never get back within 17 points.

> Moorman led the team with 12 points, while Grimes' 22 were the game-high.
> De'Vondre Perry pulled down eight of Temple's 26 boards.
