PHILADELPHIA -- The 2021 Temple gymnastics schedule is set. The Owls, coming off of back-to-back ECAC titles, will begin their first season as a member of the East Atlantic Gymnastic League (EAGL), competing in 10 regular season meets, including four at home.
Temple opens its inaugural EAGL campaign on January 16 in the friendly confines of McGonigle Hall, as the Owls host a quad meet with Eastern Michigan, Towson, and UNH for the Ken Anderson Invitational beginning at 7:00 p.m.Â
The team follows with four straight road meets, including a quad meet at Towson with NC State and William & Mary on January 22, and a meet at UNH with league and NCAA newcomer Long Island University (LIU) on January 30.
February opens with a bang for the Owls, as the team travels to Denver to compete in a tri-meet with defending NCAA Champion, Oklahoma, on the 7th. Both the Pioneers (t-8th) and the Sooners (2nd) enter the 2021 season ranked in the top-10 in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association poll.Â
Temple's long road stretch comes to an end on February 14 at Pitt, competing in the Keystone Classic.Â
The Owls then host three of their next four meets at home in McGonigle Hall, beginning with a Pink Meet dual against UNC on February 21. The next weekend, Temple will compete at NC State, joining William & Mary for a tri-meet on February 27.
Temple closes out its home schedule with a two-meet weekend, hosting its annual Alumni meet against George Washington (GWU) on Friday, March 5. Two days later the team will host LIU in another dual, this one serving as Senior Day for the Owls.Â
Closing the regular season, the Cherry & White will compete at Towson on March 14 in a quad meet also featuring conference foes UNH and GWU.
Postseason begins for Temple with the eight-team EAGL Championships on Saturday, March 20. Time and location are still to be determined.
The NCAA Regionals will follow on April 1-3, while the NCAA Championships will run April 16-17 in Fort Worth, Texas.
