Gymnastics Posts 193.550 at Bowling Green Tri-Meet

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Temple gymnastics continued its road stretch on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Bowling Green Tri-Meet. The Owls scored a 193.55, falling to Bowling Green (194.55) and Illinois State (194.35) in Anderson Arena, but earned multiple season-high scores to cap off another successful weekend of competition.
 
Bars
> The Owls started off the competition on bars, scoring a 47.675.
> Senior captain Jazmyn Estrella had a strong performance for the Cherry and White, earning the squad's top score at 9.725.
> Senior Daisy Todd put together a solid routine as well, earning her best score of the season in the event at 9.700. Freshman Madison Brooks also competed on bars, scoring a 9.650 for the Owls.
 
Beam
> Temple competed on beam next, posting their second-highest score of the season of 48.275.
> Brooks and Estrella were each outstanding for the Cherry and White on beam, tying for the top score on the squad at 9.700.
> Junior Faith Leary represented Temple well in her first-ever performance on beam, posting a score of 9.675. Tying her was junior Jordyn Oster, who also notched a 9.675 to wrap up competition on the event.
 
Floor
> Temple competed on floor in the third rotation, earning its second-best score of the season of 48.850.
> Sophomore Ariana Castrence was phenomenal on floor, tying her third-best score of the season at 9.825. Oster was also fantastic, tying her teammate at 9.825 to post a season-high, tie her career-best and tie with Castrence and Illinois State's Angelina Labat for third place in the event.
> Leary and Everett also had stellar performances on floor, earning a 9.800 and 9.725, respectively. To cap off the Owls' best event of the day, junior Tori Edwards earned a 9.675.
 
Vault
> The Owls finished out the afternoon on vault, posting their second-highest score of the day at 48.750.
> Everett was outstanding in Temple's final rotation of the day, scoring a season-best 9.800 to tie Castrence for the third-highest score of the season.
> Estrella and Edwards each earned season-high scores as well, posting scores of 9.775 and 9.750, respectively.
> Castrence and Brooks also competed well on vault, earning scores of 9.725 and 9.700.
 
From the Coach
> "NQS hits this week, and then the game of climbing the rankings begins," said head coach Josh Nilson. "Starting next week, we set out to replace scores. It's going to be a fun second half of the season."
 
Up Next
> The Cherry and White return to competition in Philadelphia on Friday, Feb. 21 as Temple will compete in the Pink Meet at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m.
