Men’s Basketball Looks to Continue AAC Win Streak at ECU Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple (14-12, 6-7 AAC) will be looking for its fourth straight American Athletic Conference win Sunday when the Owls travel to ECU (10-17, 4-10) to take on the Pirates. Fresh off a 93-89 double overtime win over UConn, Temple has won four of its last five conference games with the current stretch starting with a 76-64 home win over ECU on Feb. 1.
The game tips off at noon and will be televised live by ESPNU. It can be heard on 1210 AM WPHT.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
> Temple, under the direction of head coach Aaron McKie, features a balanced attack with seven players averaging 5.8 ppg or more.
> Senior guard Quinton Rose leads Temple (2nd AAC) in scoring (16.3 ppg), assists (3.7 apg/9th AAC) and is second in steals (2.0 spg/4th AAC). Rose, who is also the AAC's all-time leader in points (1,778) and steals (211), is the only players to rank in the Top 10 in the conference in these categories.
> Junior guard Nate Pierre-Louis, who had career highs in scoring (23) and rebounds (14) in the UConn win, leads Temple in rebounding (8.5 rpg/5th AAC) and steals (2.0/3rd AAC), while ranking second in scoring (11.8 ppg) and assists (3.1 apg).
> Senior Alani Moore II (8.7 ppg) has doubled his offensive output from last year (4.1 ppg) and is second in the AAC in threes per game (2.2) and sixth in three-point percentage (.399).
> Rounding out the starting five are sophomore Jake Forrester (8.3 ppg/4.1 rpg) and junior Justyn Hamilton (3.5 ppg). Junior J.P. Moorman II (5.8 ppg), who ranks second on the team in rebounding (5.1 rpg), has started 23 games.
> Redshirt junior Monty Scott (6.9 ppg), who scored a season high 25 points against UConn, junior De'Vondre Perry (6.1 ppg), who leads the AAC in three-point percentage (.420), have provided the most impact from the Owls' deep bench.

> ECU head coach Joe Dooley is in his second year in this his second stint as the Pirates head coach. Dooley previously served four seasons as ECU coach (1995-99), posting a 57-52 record.
> Sophomore Jayden Gardner, who has 12 double doubles this year, leads the AAC in scoring (19.9 ppg) and is third in rebounding (9.5 rpg). Gardner is second in the country in free throw attempts (200) and is eighth in the nation in free throws made (146).
> Five other ECU players are averaging over seven points per game with freshman Tristen Newtown (10.2 ppg, 3.7 apg) leading the way.
> ECU is 8-6 at home this season with three of the team's four AAC wins coming at Minges Coliseum.
