Women’s Basketball Hosts Tulsa for Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball returns to McGonigle Hall on Saturday, Feb. 29 as they host Tulsa for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
THE GAME
> Prior to the start of the game, Temple graduate student Lena Niang and seniors Shannen Atkinson and Ciara Forde will be honored in a Senior Day ceremony.
THE OWLS
> Temple returns to McGonigle Hall with a record of 15-12 (7-7 AAC). The Owls are currently ranked fifth in the American Athletic Conference.
> Junior Mia Davis leads Temple with 19.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Her boards per night leads the American.
> A Cheryl Miller Award top 10 finalist, Davis totals 16 double-doubles on the season to tie for fifth-most in the nation.
> Redshirt sophomore Ashley Jones adds 16.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
> Marissa Mackins is the third Owl to average double-digit points with 13.1 per night. Mackins leads Temple and ranks second in the American with 70 three-pointers this season.
> Niang is the second leading rebounder for Temple with 5.5 boards per game and adds 7.3 points per game.
> Rounding out the top-five shooters for Temple is sophomore Alexa Williamson, who adds 5.8 points per outing.
> Freshman Asonah Alexander is second in the American with 112 assists on the year, averaging 4.1 per game. Her assist/turnover ratio of 2.60 ranks first in the conference and 11th in the country.
LAST TIME OUT: UCF 67, Temple 64
> UCF shot 45.5% from the floor and 66.7% from three-point range as the Owls were held to 40.7% from the field and just 26.7% from beyond the arc.
> Temple controlled the action on the boards, outrebounding the Knights 43-29.
> The Owls were forced into 14 turnovers, which converted into 19 points for UCF.
> Davis led Temple with 23 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.
> Jones was the second-highest scoring Owl with 16 points while junior Emani Mayo collected a season-high 11 points.
> Atkinson added seven points and 10 rebounds and registered the Owls' lone block of the game.
SCOUTING TULSA
> The Golden Hurricane is now 2-8 in their last 10 games, beating only SMU and ECU during that stretch. Those two wins are also their only wins since the calendar flipped to 2020.
> Kendrian Elliott leads the Golden Hurricane in points per game with 12.7 and is the only Tulsa player to average in double figures. Elliott also leads the team in rebounds per game (8.5) and blocks (41).
> Tulsa scores an average of 57.2 points per game and allows an average of 66.2 points per game.
> The Golden Hurricane are 2-12 in American Athletic Conference games this season. Both of their wins have come at home.
LAST TIME OUT: Wichita State 70, Tulsa 61
> Tulsa dropped their second consecutive game, falling to the Shockers 70-61 on Feb. 23 in Oklahoma.
> Rebecca Lescay scored a career-high 23 points on 56% shooting and added three steals and three assists.
> The Golden Hurricane shot just 48% from the free-throw line in the contest, hitting just 14 of their 29 attempts from the charity stripe.
> Kendrian Elliott scored eight points but grabbed 15 rebounds and tallied three blocks.
