Women's Basketball Falls to Tulsa on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball team dropped a 68-64 contest at the hands of visiting Tulsa on Saturday afternoon at Senior Day at McGonigle Hall. The loss drops Temple to 15-13 overall (7-8 AAC), while Tulsa improves to 8-20 overall, 3-13 in the conference.

Keys to the Game
> Tulsa held the Owls to 38.5% from the field and just 35% from three.
> Temple out rebounded Tulsa 41-33, but suffered from 19 turnovers in the game.
> Tulsa jumped out to an early lead going up by four after the first quarter.
> The Owls tied things up at the half, and then took a slim lead with a 19-17 edge in the third quarter.
> Tulsa finished out the game by outscoring the Owls 20-14 in the final frame.

Individual Highlights
> Redshirt sophomore Ashley Jones led Temple with 20 points, also dishing out six assists.
> Junior Mia Davis tallied 13 points with 10 rebounds for yet another double-double.
> Sophomore Alexa Williamson tallied eight points with six boards, while graduate student Lena Niang also added eight points.

First Quarter
> Both teams shot over 46% in the first frame, but it was Tulsa outscoring the Owls 20-16.
> With the game tied at 7-7, Tulsa used an 8-2 run to go up 15-9.
> Temple battled back to cut it to 18-16 with a 7-3 run, but Tulsa got the final bucket of the quarter to lead by four.

Second Quarter
> A three point play from Jones cut the lead to 20-19, but Tulsa rattled off a 7-0 run to lead by eight with 6:35 to play.
> Temple answered right back, with a 12-2 run, punctuated by a Jones triple to put Temple up 31-29 with under a minute left.
> Tulsa scored in its final possession of the frame, however, sending the game into the locker room knotted at 31-31.

Third Quarter
> Temple led early in the third after a Niang three and the teams traded leads after that.
> Tulsa took advantage of foul trouble from the Owls going up 48-44 from the line with under three to play.
> Temple countered with a 6-2 run, taking a slim 50-48 lead after three.

Fourth Quarter
> Tulsa rattled off a 6-0 run to start the fourth quarter, going up four.
> Temple cut the lead to two, but Tulsa surged again, leading 60-54 with just over four minutes to play.
> Down by seven with under two to play, Temple used a full court press to score six straight points, to cut it to 62-61 with 1:31 to play.
> Tulsa scored the next four points to push their lead to 66-61 with under 25 seconds to play, before Jones hit a three to make it 66-64.
> A pair of Tulsa free throws pushed it back to four and Tulsa got a defensive board on Temple's next trip down the floor to seal the win.
