Women’s Basketball Heads to Tulane for Regular Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball travels to New Orleans as they take on Tulane in their last game of the 2019-20 regular season Monday, Mar. 2 at 8 p.m.

THE OWLS
> Temple enters their final regular season game with a record of 15-13 (7-8 AAC). The Owls are currently ranked fifth in the American Athletic Conference.  
> Junior Mia Davis leads Temple with 18.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Her boards per night leads the American. 
> A Cheryl Miller Award top 10 finalist, Davis totals 17 double-doubles on the season to tie for fourth-most in the nation. 
> Redshirt sophomore Ashley Jones adds 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. 
> Marissa Mackins is the third Owl to average double-digit points with 12.9 per night. Mackins leads Temple and ranks second in the American with 71 three-pointers this season. 
> Graduate student Lena Niang is the second leading rebounder for Temple with 5.4 boards per game. Niang nets 7.3 points per game.
> Rounding out the top-five scorers for Temple is sophomore Alexa Williamson, who adds 5.9 points per outing. 
> Freshman Asonah Alexander is second in the American with 114 assists on the year, averaging 4.1 per game. Her assist/turnover ratio of 2.53 ranks first in the conference and 13th in the country.

LAST TIME OUT: Tulsa 68, Temple 64
> Tulsa held the Owls to 38.5% from the field and just 35% from three as the Golden Hurricane topped Temple 68-64 Feb. 29 at McGonigle Hall. 
> Temple out rebounded Tulsa 41-33, but suffered from 19 turnovers in the game.
> Tulsa jumped out to an early lead going up by four after the first quarter.
> The Owls tied things up at the half, and then took a slim lead with a 19-17 edge in the third quarter.
> Tulsa finished out the game by outscoring the Owls 20-14 in the final frame.
> Jones led Temple with 20 points, also dishing out six assists.
> Davis tallied 13 points with 10 rebounds for yet another double-double.
> Williamson tallied eight points with six boards, while Niang also added eight points.

SCOUTING TULANE
> The Green Wave enters Monday's contest at 12-15 overall and 7-8 in conference play and are currently ranked seventh in the AAC. 
> Krystal Freeman leads Tulane with 14.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. She also leads the team with a total of 49 steals on the year. 
> Arsula Clark adds 12 points and 2.5 assists per outing. 
> The Green Wave ranks second in the American in blocks, denying 4.3 shots each game. 
> Mia Heide is the leading shot blocker for Tulane and ranks second in the conference with 1.8 blocks per game. 

LAST TIME OUT: ECU 53, Tulane 50
> Tulane fell 53-50 Saturday, Feb. 29 at ECU as they registered their seventh-straight loss.
> The Green Wave held the lead for the majority of the game until ECU opened the fourth quarter on an 18-4 run to give them their first lead since the first frame.
> The Pirates forced Tulane to commit 34 turnover, the most by any team in the American this season.  
> Krystal Freeman recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds. 

TEMPLE VS. TULANE
> The Owls lead 6-3 in the all-time series against Tulane. 
> However, Temple has dropped the last two meetings against the Green Wave. 
> The first contest between the two programs came on Dec. 28, 2008 in New Orleans, where Tulane grabbed a 75-71 overtime win against the Owls. 

LAST TIME THEY MET: Tulane 66, Temple 57
> Tulane defeated the Owls in their last matchup 66-57 on Jan. 8, 2019 in McGonigle Hall. 
> The game featured six lead changes and four ties, before Tulane turned a close four-point contest into a 19-point blow out with 15 unanswered points to close the third quarter.
> Temple rallied to out-score the Green Wave 23-13 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to overcome the slow third quarter.
> Tulane out-shot Temple 44.2% to 37.7%, including a massive 58.8% (10-17) in the pivotal third frame.
> Williamson led the Owls with 16 points and added three steals and three blocks. Classmate Mackins added 12 points, four assists and four steals. 
> Emani Mayo tallied 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
> Alliya Butts and Davis added eight points each to round out the scoring.
> Butts added a pair of steals in the win, with her first of the game making her Temple's all-time career steals leader.
