PHILADELPHIA – Temple Football head coach Rod Carey announced today the promotions of three graduate assistants to full-time positions. Zach Gold, Jessica Hryn, and Ayden Opfer will all have roles in the football operations department.
"I am very pleased to promote Zach, Jess and Ayden," said Carey. "All three joined us last year, worked their tail off, and earned their promotion. I look forward to having them help us take this program to even greater heights."
Zach Gold joined the Temple Football staff as a graduate assistant in recruiting and scouting in August 2019, following five years on staff at Northwestern University. He came to Temple from Northwestern, where his responsibilities included identifying and evaluating prospects as well as assisting with the coordination of coaching staff recruiting travel. Prior to this role, he was a student manager on Northwestern football's equipment staff for all four years as an undergraduate. Gold is a native of New York, N.Y., and earned his bachelor's degree in communication studies from Northwestern in 2018.
Jessica Hryn joined the Temple Football staff as a graduate assistant in operations and recruiting in August 2019, following a year on staff with the Carolina Panthers where she served as the entertainment intern. Her responsibilities included assisting in day-to-day functions of game day entertainment groups and planning and coordinating events such as the Training Camp Kickoff. Prior to the Panthers, Hryn spent three seasons as a student recruitment team member at the University of Alabama. While at Alabama, she assisted in all aspects of on-campus recruiting and was a part of two #1 recruiting classes. A native of Chicago, Ill., Hryn earned her bachelor's degree in sports broadcasting from Alabama in 2018.
Ayden Opfer joined the Temple Football staff as a graduate assistant in multimedia and coaches video in August 2019, following a stint on staff at Ohio Northern University where he served as the creative content coordinator and the assistant recruiting coordinator. He created a social media identity for the program and created all recruiting content. Before his time at Ohio Northern, Opfer spent six seasons coaching high school football in Ohio at St. Mary Central Catholic and Euclid. Opfer is a native of Sandusky, Ohio, and earned his bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University in 2017.
