2.4.20 | Women's Gymnastics
PHILADELPHIA—Gymnastics' Delaney Garin and Faith Leary took home ECAC awards for their standout efforts last Friday in the Ken Anderson Invitational. Garin earned ECAC Gymnast of the Week honors and Leary took home the Coaches Choice award.
Garin was pivotal in helping Temple score a season-high 195.000 in Temple's win last weekend. The junior captain tied her career-high on bars with a 9.775 and posted a 9.675 on floor. Garin was stellar on beam, where she earned a career-best 9.9 and the event title for her superb routine. She anchored the Owls' beam lineup that posted the second-highest score in program history (49.1) and she is just one of six Temple gymnasts to ever score a 9.9 or higher on the event.
Leary was exceptional in Temple's win over Bridgeport and Ursinus. The junior competed on vault for the first time in Cherry and White on Friday night and was nothing short of spectacular. Leary earned a share of the event title, scoring a 9.85. She also dazzled on floor for the Owls, scoring a 9.875 to take first in the event. Leary's floor mark is the highest on the team this season and her vault score is tied for the top spot.
Up next, The Owls are back in action on Sunday, Feb. 9 as they head across town to ECAC foe Penn for its Pink Meet. The competition is set to begin at 1 p.m.
