Men’s Basketball Hosts SMU for Saturday Showdown

PHILADELPHIA – Temple Men's Basketball will look to get back on the winning track Saturday when the Owls (11-11, 3-7 AAC) host SMU (16-5, 6-3) in an American Athletic Conference clash Saturday (12 pm ET/ESPNU/1210 AM WPHT).
At halftime of the game, three former players, Nelson "Nitzy" Bobb (1943, 47-49), Grace Schuler McGeoy (1942-45).and Mike Vreeswyk (1985-89), will be inducted into the Temple Basketball Ring of Honor.
PROMOTIONS

> Temple, under the direction of first-year head coach Aaron McKie, sports a balanced attack with two players averaging double figures and another four averaging 6.0 points or more.
> Senior guard Quinton Rose leads Temple (3rd AAC) in scoring (15.5 ppg), assists (3.7 apg/9th AAC), steals (2.0 spg/t-3rd AAC) and is the only players to rank in the Top 10 in the conference in these categories.
> Junior guard Nate Pierre-Louis leads Temple in rebounding (8.0 rpg/5th AAC) and steals (2.0/t-3rd AAC), while ranking second in scoring (11.7 ppg) and assists (2.9 apg).
> Senior Alani Moore II (8.6 ppg) has doubled his offensive output from last year (4.1 ppg) and is fourth in the AAC in threes per game (2.2) and seventh in three-point percentage (.398).
> Rounding out the starting five are sophomore Jake Forrester (8.4 ppg/4.4 rpg) and junior J.P. Moorman II (6.1 ppg), who ranks second on the team in rebounding (5.4 rpg).
> Junior De'Vondre Perry (6.4 ppg), who ranks second in the AAC in three-point percentage (.426), redshirt junior Monty Scott (4.8 ppg) and freshman Josh Pierre-Louis (4.2 ppg) have provided the most impact from the Owls' deep bench.

> The Mustangs, under the direction of fifth-year coach Tim Jankovich, have four players averaging double figures with Kendric Davis topping the Mustangs at 15.4 points per game (4th AAC) and an AAC-best 7.2 assists per game (7th NCAA).
> Tyson Jolly (14.9 ppg/7th AAC), Isiah Mike (14.3 ppg/8th AAC) and Feron Hunt (11.9 ppg/20th) also score in double figures.
> SMU, which has won four of its last five games, enters the contest leading the conference in field goal percentage (46.5%), free-throw percentage (77.6, 9th NCAA), assists (16.6, 21st NCAA) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3, 30th NCAA).
> The Mustangs are 4-4 on the road this season, including 1-3 in conference games.
SERIES HISTORY
> Temple and SMU are meeting for the 14th time with the Mustangs owning a 7-6 edge in the series.
