No. 5 Fencing Set for Duke Invitational

2.8.20 | Women's Fencing

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 5 Temple fencing team will head to North Carolina for its final road team competition of the season, facing five opponents at the Duke Invitational.

The Owls are coming off a 7-3 weekend at the Northwestern Multi Meet, as well as earning their highest ranking in program history. The squad defeated Stanford and Cornell while narrowly falling to No. 1 Princeton in the first day of competition, falling to two Top-10 teams and dominating three schools on day two.

The epee squad went undefeated in the Windy City, with Marielle Luke going 21-3 overall. Zoe Turner and Malia Hee led the sabrists, with Hee dropping just one bout on day one.

Temple will open the day against host Duke at 8:30 a.m. before having a bye in Round 2. The Owls will face Brandeis before lunch and MIT in Round 3, concluding the day with Notre Dame and UNC. This will be the second time this season that the squad will face Notre Dame, dominating the then-No. 1 Fighting Irish at the Philadelphia Invitational last month.
