Gymnastics Has Strong Showing on Alumni Night

bPHILADELPHIA— The Temple gymnastics team opened up its two-meet weekend with Alumni Night on Friday evening, posting a 193.975 to take second place in the closely-contested meet. Penn came out on top with a 194.000, while West Chester took third with a 192.000 and Bowling Green was fourth with a 188.700.
Vault
> The Owls started off the competition on vault, scoring a 48.1.
> Sophomore Madi Brooks and junior Tori Edwards put up matching scores of 9.525 on the event.
> Senior Jaylene Everett and Jazmyn Estrella were strong for the Cherry and White, earning a 9.6 and 9.7, respectively.
> Sophomore Ariana Castrence's outstanding vault earned a team-high 9.75 to take second place on the event.
Bars
> Temple competed on bars next, tying its second-highest score of the season with a 48.75.
> Edwards and senior Daisy Todd put on strong routines, scoring a 9.675 and 9.7, respectively. Estrella continued to be a constant force on bars for the Owls, as she posted a 9.725.
> Brooks and Castrence were both stellar on bars, each posting 9.825's on the event to tie for first place. This was a career-best performance for Brooks.
Beam
> Temple competed on beam in the third rotation, scoring a 48.25.
> Brooks and juniors Delaney Garin and Jordyn Oster all had clean routines on beam. Brooks and Garin scored a pair of 9.65's while Oster posted a 9.7 on the event.
> Sophomore Taylor Newland anchored the Owls' lineup with a stellar performance, scoring a team-high 9.725.
Floor
> The Owls closed out Alumni Night on floor, posting a 48.875 in their best rotation of the evening.
> Edwards and Oster's high-powered performances earned them a 9.725 and 9.75, respectively.
> Castrence was a key contributor for the Owls on floor, as she scored a 9.775 on the event. Newland had the best performance of her career, leading the lineup with a huge 9.8.
> Everett dazzled her way to a share of second place on floor with a season-high 9.825.
All-Around
> Castrence competed in the all-around competition for the Owls, placing second with a 38.875.
