4/21/2020

Joseph Adams is a four year member of the Owls' crew team hailing from Deephaven, Minn. As a freshman, he earmned multiple medals for Temple, including golds with the freshman four at the Kerr Cup, Murphy Cup, and Bergen Cup Regattas. Adams quickly rose to the varsity ranks, winning Dad Vail gold in 2018 with the second varsity eight, helping the Owls' to a sweep of the eights for the first time in the 80+ year history of the event. As a senior, he was rowing in the Owl's heavyweight varsity eight before the season was cut short. Adams will graduate from the College of Public Health with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science.

Owlsports.com caught up with Adams, as he finishes his degree at Temple.

In the book of your life, what’s the title of the Temple chapter?   Until you go too far...

What’s the best part about being a member of the crew team at Temple?  It's been said before but it's true that my teammates and all the lifelong friends I made here is the best part. Seeing them every day at practice is going to be the part I miss the most.

What is your favorite memory of being a student-athlete at Temple?  There's too many for me to pick one favorite. I think the training trips we took this year, to Miami during winter break and to Clemson during spring break, were some of the best times I've had with my teammates and some of the most fun rowing we've ever had.

If you could give advice to your freshman year self, what would it be?  Always have the end goal in mind. Even when you're taking your first strokes of the fall semester you should be thinking about what you can be doing to win in the spring.

Where do you see yourself in five years?  Older

I need to thank my parents first because they're the ones who gave me the opportunity to even come to temple to row, and continued to support me throughout all four years of me rowing here. I also want to thank Coach Scott and Coach Perkins for everything they have taught me and done for the team as a whole. Lastly I want to thank my teammates and friends. There is absolutely no way I could have made it through everything without the support I had from all the friends I've made along the way.
