The 2019-20 Spirit Award goes to Kayla Spells!
A freshman hailing from Cary, N.C., Kayla Spells made an immediate impact as a starting middle for the Owls, playing in 82 total sets, which ranked second on the team. She led the team with 72 blocks, including seven solo, while also racking up 98 total kills and 1.57 points per set. More importantly, Kayla was an attentive and supportive teammate.
While there were many members of the team who also could have won this award, Kayla is an individual who really stood out this year as our Spirit Award recipient. Kayla has shown everyone what it is like to be a selfless teammate who always puts the team before herself.Ren Cefra, Assistant Coach
In Kayla’s first year as a member of the Temple Volleyball team, she has already made a tremendous impact to the program. This award honors a team member who brings joy and passion to our sport.
