"I want to thank the Temple Athletic Department and Dr. Nikki Franke for this opportunity to work with one of the top fencing teams in the country," Ford said. "I am very honored and excited to give back to the program that gave me so much during my collegiate career. I look forward to continuing my fencing journey as a coach at the university I was a part of."Â
Ford has been involved in the sport of fencing for over 20 years. She was an active competitor both nationally and internationally from a young age, and was a member of the Temple fencing team from 2010-2014 where she studied graphic design with a minor in art history.
The West Sand Lake, N.Y., native was the sabre squad leader her junior year and was chosen team captain her senior year. Ford currently coaches at the Delaware Valley Fencing Club where she helps train athletes to perform at a nationally competitive level as well develop a love for the sport. She also works as a freelance designer.Â
"I am very pleased to welcome Tasia back to Temple in this new role," Franke said. "Having been a part of our program, she understands our team culture and work ethic. I have no doubt that she will help our fencers continue to improve and reach their full potential. Her passion for our sport is clear and I am excited about having her share her energy and love of fencing with our young ladies."
