7.3.20 | Men's Basketball
COLUMBUS, OHIO – Basketball is back tomorrow with first round games of The Basketball Tournament (TBT), and Temple fans can watch former Owl stars Khalif Wyatt, Ramone Moore, Semaj Inge and Wayne Marshall lead #12-seed Team Brotherly Love against #21-seed Stillwater Stars at 5 pm on ESPN. The Philadelphia-based Team Brotherly Love's game against the Stars, which feature Oklahoma State alums, is one of four contests airing on ESPN Saturday.
The $1 million, winner-take-all 24-team basketball event will broadcast all of its games on ESPN networks. All TBT games will be played under quarantine at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, from July 4-14.
This year's TBT will be Team Brotherly Love's second time competing in the event. The team is organized by former Penn student manager Danny Holdsman and will be coached by Kyle Sample, head basketball coach at Harriton High School.
Besides the four Owls, Team Brotherly Love's roster includes Novar Gadson (Rider), Mike Ringgold (Rider), Maurice Watson Jr. (Creighton), Samme Givens (Drexel), Shannon Givens (West Chester), Makal Stibbins (Millersville) and Marlon Johnson (New Mexico Highlands).
Wyatt (2009-13), the 2013 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, and Moore (2008-12), a two-time all-A10 honoree, were part of four Temple NCAA Tournament teams while Inge (2005-09) was a member of two NCAA squads. Marshall played two seasons for the Owls (2004-06).
If Team Brotherly Love advances, they will face #5 seed Eberlein Drive on July 6 at 7 pm on ESPN.
The quarterfinals will be held on July 10 and July 11 with the semifinals on July 12. The 2020 TBT Championship Game will be played on July 14, when one player will hit a shot to win his team $1 million.
