Women’s Basketball Heads to Houston for Wednesday Matchup

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball team travels to Houston for a 1 p.m. matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the Fertitta Center. The conference matchup will be aired on ESPN+.
THE OWLS
> Temple arrives in Houston with a record of 4-4 (4-1 AAC). The Owls currently stand at third in the American Athletic Conference.
> The Cherry and White rank third in the conference in rebounds per game (39.9) and assists per game (14.6).
> Temple enters the Wednesday afternoon game shooting 39.3% from the floor, 23.9% from three-point range, and 65.6% from the foul line.
> Senior Mia Davis leads the Owls with 21.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. So far, the forward has recorded four double-doubles this season.
> Rookie Jasha Clinton is the Owls' second-leading scorer with 11.9 points per game, while adding 4.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 steals per game for the Cherry and White. Clinton leads Temple with 12 three-pointers on the year.

> The Owls suffered their first loss in the American Athletic Conference to Cincinnati on Jan. 13 at McGonigle Hall.
> Playing without junior Alexa Williamson, the Owls' second leading scorer, Temple was unable to maintain a lead despite going up by as many as six in the contest.
> Cincinnati had a slim one point edge at the half, which Temple erased quickly in the third.
> However, the Bearcats used strong free throw shooting and surged forward to lead by two at the end of the third, 51-49.
> Temple took the lead in the fourth quarter, but as was the story of the whole game, they couldn't maintain it. A late push by the Bearcats put the game just out of reach, as Temple snapped its conference win streak.
> Cincinnati out-shot the Owls 44% to 39%, working around a 1-11 (9%) performance from beyond the arc.
> The Bearcats also held an edge on the glass, pulling down 44 rebounds to Temple's 32.
