Golf Places Sixth at Phoenix Invitational

Burlington, N.C. – Sophomore Graham Chase recorded his third straight under-par round and posted his fourth career top-10 to lead Temple Golf to a sixth-place finish at the 13-team Phoenix Invitational Tuesday. Chase shot a one-under 70 for his final round and finished with a five-under 208 to tie for 10th in the 83-golfer field.
Recapping the Day
> Chase made three birdies on the day, including his final hole, and had 11 for the 54-hole tournament, in posting his best score of his three-year career.
> Conor McGrath led the Owls with a two-under 69 and finished the tournament with a one-under 212 to tie for 22nd. He made his four birdies between holes six and 16 before finishing the round with a bogey on 18. His 12 birdies for the tournament led the Owls.
> True freshman Ethan Whitney made an eagle on the par-5, 506-yard 17th hole to finish with a one-over 72 for the day. He was even par for the tournament and tied for 27th overall.
> Conor McGrath, who was named American Athletic Conference Co-Golfer of the Month earlier in the week, rebounded from a three-over 74 to shoot a two-under 69 in the afternoon to tie for 34th with a one-over 143. The AAC Co-Golfer of the Month made five birdies in his second round.
> Dawson Anders was two-over for his final round and four-over for the tournament to tie for 45th overall.
> Joey Morganti struggled for the second straight round, shooting an eight-over 79 and finished with a 17-over 230 to tie for 74th.
> Playing as independents, Buddy Hansen (71-73-74, 218) and Andrew Curran (80-79-79, 238) tied for 47th and 80th, respectively.
The Field
> Host Elon's A-team won the tournament title by nine strokes with a 31-under par 821. Appalachian State (830) placed second followed by Longwood and Radford, who tied for third at 843. Temple shot a three-under 849 to place sixth, its first tourney out of the top five this season.
>There was a three-way tie for first with Elon's Pedro Rabadan, Appalachian State's Jake Lane and North Carolina's Dougie Ergood all finishing with a 10-under par 203.

> "Graham is playing really well, probably did not get a lot out of this tournament. He struck the ball beautifully, played pretty much flawlessly tee to green. Conor played real solid as always, once again probably did not get a ton out of it.
> "Ethan really played good. He hung in there. Really did not have his A game, but he is a grinder. The kid does not quit out there. He made a big eagle, and I am really proud of him and how he plays. He has great moxie and really good attitude out there."
