PHILADELPHIA - Temple (5-13, 1-6 AAC) won its first conference game of the season against USF (6-16, 0-8 AAC), 3-2. After falling behind by two sets, the Owls rallied back, winning the final three sets to take home the win.

  • The Bulls got off to a hot start in the match taking a 6-1 lead early on in the first set before the Owls answered back with a 5-0 run of their own to even the match at six. From there, the two sides battled back and forth with USF winning the race to 10. Chelci Banks recorded a big block for the Owls to keep the score close, but the Bulls responded to take the lead midway through the set. The Bulls extended their lead late in the first set due to a 4-1 run, but the Cherry & White fought back with a run of their own highlighted by a kill for Miray Bolukbasi to force a USF timeout still trailing 20-18. • An early run for USF got the Bulls out to a 7-3 lead in the second set to force a Temple timeout. After dropping the next three points, Temple answered with a 4-0 run including a service ace from Taylor Davenport to force a USF timeout. The Bulls started strong out of the timeout, stretching the lead to 17-10 following a 5-1 run. Two kills from Gem Grimshaw sparked a 6-1 run to close the gap late in the second set, bringing the Owls within four points. A kill from Bolukbasi and a block by Davenport cut the deficit to 23-21, but USF held on to its lead, winning the set 25-22.
  • The Owls started the third set on the front foot, taking a 4-0 lead with three consecutive kills by Grimshaw. A kill by Patrycja Zielinska and two kills from Bolukbasi maintained Temple's advantage as the Owls led 12-8 midway through the set. An 8-3 run later in the set thanks to two kills by Katerina Papazoglou gave the Owls a 20-12 lead which they were able to capitalize on, winning the set 25-22.
  • The Bulls took the early lead courtesy to a 3-0 run, but Temple responded with a 6-1 run of its own with kills by Grimshaw and Davenport leading the charge to get the Owls out in front. Temple seized the momentum, with kills from Banks and Bolukbasi stretching the Owls lead to 18-11. Consecutive kills from Davenport sealed the set for the Owls, 25-15.
