Owls Soar In Second Round Of GCU Invitational

Phoenix - Temple Volleyball (4-1) swept Louisiana Monroe (2-3) Saturday afternoon at Global Credit Union Arena. The Owls continued their offensive success with major contributions from Senior Olivia Hummel and Freshmen Kennedy Crayton who had a career high 14 kills.

Senior Olivia Hummel got the scoring going for the Owls with a kill and ace as she continued her success from last game
ULM launch a small 0-3 run until Khenedi Guest ended it with a spike, bringing the Owls up 8-5
The game saw back and forth action until ULM launch a 0-4 come back to tie the game at 14
Christiana Green and Khenedi Guest led a 4-0 run to bring the owls up 18-14
ULM orchestrated another come back, but Temples defense was too strong as Hummel landed a physical block which eventually lead to the owls winning the set 25-21

Mistakes hurt the Owls early as Louisiana Monroe took the lead 0-3, until Green had an emphatic spike that ended the slide
Steel Sinai was a force up front and helped Temple take a lead of 4-3
Back to back kills by Green gave them a 10-8 advantage
Neither team was able to gain much of a lead as the game was tight at the media timeout
Kennedy Crayton continued her early season success scoring 9 kills in the first 2 sets
The game continued to be deadlocked, with ties and one point leads, but with the scoring of Green, Guest, and Hummel, they were able to pull out a 25-19 victory in set 2.

Green and Guest continued the scoring for the Owls in the 3rd set giving Temple an early 2-1 lead
Crayton was unstoppable, as she scored 3 kills bringing her total to 12 and putting the Owls up 13-10
Sinai was a Steel wall up front when she made a huge block to extend their run 17-15
ULM created some momentum and brought the score to 21-20 but the Owls defense held with blocks from Guest and Hummel
Lexi Yoza was everywhere for the Owls tallying 36 assists and 3 blocks. The set ended with an owls win of 25-22
