Owls Earn First Away Victory of the Season

PHOENIX – Temple volleyball (3-1) defeated San Francisco (2-3) on Friday afternoon at Global Credit Union Arena. Senior Olivia Hummel and freshman Kennedy Crayton powered the offense with 10 kills apiece. Hummel posted a .370 hitting percentage, while senior Lexi Yoza surpassed 2,000 career assists.
Set 1
The opening set was back-and-forth early, with Khenedi Guest and Crayton continuing their success from the previous match. Guest recorded four kills, while Crayton added five.
Temple began to pull away near the 13-point mark, using back-to-back kills from Crayton to take a 17-13 lead.
The Owls maintained control from there, closing the set with a dominant offensive attack to earn a 25-20 victory.
Set 2
Yoza opened the second set with a service ace.
Christiana Greene set the tone early with a kill that gave the Owls a 4-2 advantage.
San Francisco answered with a brief run to take a 6-5 lead, but Hummel responded with back-to-back kills to put Temple back in front, 9-8.
A series of San Francisco errors and an emphatic block by Greene helped the Owls build a 16-9 advantage.
Guest recorded consecutive service aces to extend Temple's lead to 23-16 before Yoza closed the set with another ace, giving the Owls a 25-18 victory.
Set 3
Greene continued to make an impact defensively, recording her fourth block of the match to give the Owls a 2-0 lead.
Back-to-back kills from Crayton and a service ace by Hummel helped Temple extend its advantage to 8-2.
San Francisco mounted a brief rally, but a kill by Greene halted the run and gave the Owls a 23-15 lead.
Crayton finished the match with back-to-back service aces, securing a 25-15 set victory and a three-set sweep for Temple.
