Women's Basketball Downed By Princeton, 59-41

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's basketball team (2-3, 0-0) suffered a setback Tuesday, falling to the Princeton Tigers (4-1, 0-0) 59-41. The Owls mounted a spectacular comeback in the third quarter, cutting the lead down to as little as two points. From there though, Princeton controlled the game, outscoring the Owls 21-10 in the fourth quarter to cement the victory.

Statistical Leaders
> Forward Mia Davis paced the team with 11 points.
> Guards Aniya Gourdine and Jalynn Holmes chipped in with nine points each.

First Quarter: Princeton 17, Temple 4
> Princeton began the game on a 15-0 run.
> The Owls answered back, with buckets from Davis and Gourdine.

Second Quarter: Princeton 27, Temple 16
> The teams traded baskets early in the second. Davis and Gourdine led the offense for Temple.
> The Tigers were stifled by the suffocating Owl defense. Temple held Princeton scoreless for nearly six minutes of game time.
> The Cherry and White took off on a 12-4 scoring run to end the half. Davis put the exclamation point on the run with a three pointer right before the buzzer to trim the lead to 11.

Third Quarter: Princeton 38, Temple 31
> The Owls exploded out of the gate with a 6-0 run to cut the lead down to five, 27-22. Holmes scored two buckets while Jasha Clinton drained one.
> A few minutes later, Holmes canned a three to cut the deficit to two.
> However, shortly after, Princeton stretched the lead back out to 11 with a 9-0 run before Temple cut into the lead again shortly before the end of the quarter.

Fourth Quarter: Temple 41, Princeton 59
> The Tigers extended their lead to 18 quickly thanks to strong three-point shooting, they shot 3-4 from deep to open the final frame.
> Princeton took the game by a final score of 59-41.
