12.20.21 | Women's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA -Â The Temple women's basketball team returns home for a non-conference game against Old Dominion on Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 12:00pm. The contest comes in part of a doubleheader scheduled with the men's team directly after. The game is scheduled to air on ESPN+.
Before the game, Temple will host a short ceremony for forward Mia Davis in honor of her scoring her 2,000th career point for Temple.
LAST GAME
> In their last time out, the Owls dropped a road contest to Northwestern, losing their second consecutive game.
> Davis took the headlines in the contest scoring her 2000th point for the program, but her 16 points were not enough to bring home a win for the Owls. Trailing by three points early in the fourth quarter, an 11-4 Northwestern run was too much for Temple to overcome as the Wildcats pulled away for the victory.
> Davis: Game-high 16 points, eight rebounds.
> Kyra Wood: career-high 13 points, nine rebounds.
> Jasha Clinton: six points, team-high nine assists.
THE OWLS
> The Owls are coming off back-to-back losses against in-city rival Saint Joseph's and Northwestern.
> Temple's leading scorer Mia Davis, averaging 16.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game, leads the way for the Owls for another season.
> After a slow start to the season, sophomore Jasha Clinton has found her groove, averaging 15.0 points per game and seven assists over the past two games.
> Freshmen Aniya Gourdine and Kyra Wood have been key contributors for the Owls as of late. Wood tallied career-highs in both points (13) and rebounds (nine) against Northwestern.
SCOUTING OLD DOMINION
> Old Dominion has enjoyed a strong start to the 2021-22 campaign, winning nine of its first 11 contests.
> The Monarchs, currently in the midst of a seven-game winning streak, have won their past seven games by an average of 22.86 points per game.
> ODU is led by upperclassmen Iggy Allen and Ajah Wayne. Allen averages 13.6 points per game while leading the team in rebounding (8.8) while Wayne paces the team in scoring with 15.2 points per game.
LAST TIME THEY MET
> This is the first meeting between Temple and Old Dominion.
