Women's Basketball Continues Road Stretch Against Duquesne on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's basketball team's three-game road stretch comes to an end when the Owls take on the Duquesne Dukes in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Dec. 5 at 1:00pm. The game is scheduled to air on ESPN+.
LAST GAME
> In their last time out, the Owls managed to win back to back games for the first time this season, completing a comeback to defeat Georgetown 49-47.
> Down by 11 points entering the fourth quarter, the Owls drained four threes in the final period to spark the comeback to win the game.
> Forward Mia Davis recorded her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
> Sophomore forward Caranda Perea made three three-pointers in the fourth quarter to spark the comeback for the Owls. Perea finished with a season-high nine points and four assists.
THE OWLS
> The Owls are coming off back-to-back wins for the first time this season. In the past two games, the Owls have won two nail biters, winning by a combined eight points.
> Davis leads the way for the Owls averaging 15.4 points per game to go along with 7.6 rebounds per game. Against the Hoyas, Davis recorded her third double-double of the season.
> Freshman Aniya Gourdine was named this week's AAC Freshman of the Week after averaging 13.0 points per game last week. Gourdine scored a season-high 17 points against Villanova two games ago and hit the game-winning bucket to lift the Owls past the Hoyas.
> Alexa Williamson is second on the team in points per game and rebounds per game through the first seven games of the season. The senior is averaging 11.3 PPG and 6.3 RPG.
SCOUTING DUQUESNE
> Duquesne enters the contest having won their past three games against Akron, Siena, and Canisius. The Dukes won by an average of 10 points over that stretch.
> Duquesne is led by guards Megan McConnell and Fatou Pouye. Pouye leads the team in points per game with 12.3. On the other hand, McConnell leads the team in assists per game and steals per game, averaging 5.1 and 2.5, respectively.
LAST TIME THEY MET
> The last time that Temple matched up against the Dukes, the Owls lost in a tightly-contested thriller, 54-53 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
> With the Owls down by one with just over one minute remaining, Temple's Alexa Williamson converted on a layup to put the Owls in front by one point.
> However, the Owls were not able to hang on for the win as Duquesne's Libby Bazelak knocked down a free throw with seven seconds remaining to secure the win for the Dukes.
> Alliya Butts and Marissa Mackins each scored in double-figures for the Owls, scoring 15 and 14, respectively. Current Owls Emani Mayo, Shantay Taylor, and Alexa Williamson combined for 16 points.
