Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight Over Duquesne, 67-55

PITTSBURGH – The Temple women's basketball team (5-3, 0-0) won their third game in a row on Sunday afternoon, topping the Duquesne Dukes (4-5, 0-0), 67-55. Down by one point with a few second left in the third quarter, Jasha Clinton drained a three-point basket to give the Owls the lead heading into the final period. From there, the Owls capitalized on the opportunity, holding the lead for the rest of the contest.

Statistical Leaders
> Mia Davis led the team with a game-high 22 points and eight rebounds.
> Aniya Gourdine stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, seven assists, seven rebounds, and five steals.
> Jalynn Holmes tacked on 11 points.

First Quarter: Temple 14, Duquesne 11
> The Owls began the game on a 4-0 run before Duquesne answered with a three-pointer courtesy of Tess Myers.
> Layups from Davis and Alexa Williamson kept the Owls in front midway through the first quarter.
> Six points for Holmes led the team through the opening period and got the Owls on the front foot heading into the second period.

Second Quarter: Temple 27, Duquesne 32
> A 9-1 run to open the period gave Duquesne its first lead of the game.
> Four straight points from Mia Davis ended the scoring drought for the Cherry & White.
> Two free throws by Gourdine capped a 12-4 run for the Owls with just over two minutes remaining in the quarter.
> In the final two minutes of the quarter, an 8-0 run for the Dukes gave Duquesne a five-point lead at the half.

Third Quarter: Temple 46, Duquesne 44
> A 10-3 run to open the quarter for the Owls was followed by back-and-forth lead changes through the rest of the quarter.
> A three-pointer towards the end of the quarter by Clinton gave the Owls the lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Fourth Quarter: Temple 67, Duquesne 55
> Corner threes from Clinton and Holmes to open the quarter stretched the lead for TU.
> Following the three-pointers, a 9-3 run for the Owls put Temple in control for the rest of the game.
