Fencing Ranked No. 8 in USFCA Early Season Rankings

12.7.21 | Women's Fencing

PHILADELPHIA - In the first rankings to be released from the USFCA this season, the Temple fencing squad comes in at No. 8 to crack the top-10.

"The team has worked very hard in Pre-Season to earn a Top 10 Ranking," head coach Dr. Nikki Franke said. "There are a lot of strong programs, so we must continue to work and improve to maintain our ranking. We are looking forward to the season and remaining among the top-ranked schools."

This is the first set of rankings to be released since the 2019-20 season, with no teams being ranked in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Owls finished 2019-20 ranked No. 5, the team's highest ranking in program history.

Temple has one team competition under its belt this season, going 3-2 at the Sacred Heart Invitational in its lone December meet. The Cherry and White was topped by No. 4 Harvard but saw a win over No. 15 NJIT.

20 head women's fencing coaches voted in the women's poll, ranking 15 Division I teams and eight Division III teams. The next rankings will be released in mid-January.
