Women’s Basketball Drops Close Contest to #13 USF

PHILADELPHIA — Temple women's basketball team battled #13 South Florida until the very end, falling 56-47 on Wednesday afternoon at McGonigle Hall. The Owls fall to 9-9 (9-6 AAC) while the Bulls improve to 14-1 (11-0 AAC).
How It Happened
> Temple came out of the gate with some scrappy defense, holding USF below 25% shooting for the first three quarters.
> The Bulls caught fire in the final quarter, reeling off 21 points on 50% (5-10) shooting to propel them to victory.
> The Owls were out-rebounded on both ends of the floor, with USF picking up 17 offensive rebounds over the course of the game.
Statistically Speaking
> Mia Davis and Jasha Clinton led the way for the Owls, scoring 23 and 20 points, respectively. Clinton knocked down four three-pointers to lead all players beyond the arc.
> Emani Mayo grabbed nine rebounds, including two key offensive boards in the fourth quarter to keep Temple alive.
> Alexa Williamson contributed across the statsheet, adding four points, four rebounds, two blocks, and an assist.
First Quarter: Temple 11, USF 11

Fourth Quarter: USF 56, Temple 47
> The Owls scored their first points of the quarter on a fast break sequence, initiated by a Williamson rejection and punctuated by a Davis layup, putting Temple up 42-37.
> The Bulls once again went on a run, putting 15 straight points on the board to jump ahead 52-42 with 3:49 remaining.
> USF held off a late Temple rally to secure the win. The Bulls ended the quarter outscoring the Owls 21-7.
