Golf Travels Back to South Carolina for Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate

AIKEN, S.C. – Temple Golf travels back to South Carolina for its second tournament of the season, this time to compete at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on March 8-9. The event will take place at the Palmetto Golf Club on a par-70, 6,617-yard course. The 18-team tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday. Both days will begin with shotgun starts.
Previewing the Owls
> Temple, which has struggled to get time to practice on a course due to weather this winter, will look to improve upon its 16th-place showing at the Pinnacle Back Intercollegiate two weeks ago.
> Junior Conor McGrath led the Owls in the season-opening tourney, shooting a 10-over 226 to tie for 42nd.
> McGrath will be joined in Temple's starting lineup by senior Dawson Anders (228), senior transfer Peter Bradbeer (228), sophomore Graham Chase (241) and junior Buddy Hansen, who is making is 2021 debut.
> Anders, who has traditonally played well here, led Temple last season at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate with a two-under 208 for his best three-round tournament of his career. His final round of 67 tied his season best and was two strokes off his career mark, a 65 set at the 2018 Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate.
The Field
> Clemson, ranked 8th in the latest Coaches Poll, will defend its 2020 title in the 15-team field hosted by South Carolina-Aiken.
> Besides Clemson and South Carolina-Aiken, the other teams in the field are Army West Point, Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, Francis Marion, Furman, High Point, North Carolina Wilmington, Presbyterian, Samford, VCU, Winthrop and Wofford.
> The Owls will tee off at 8:00 am Monday and are paired with Francis Marion and South Carolina-Aiken.
