Ariana Castrence Named EAGL Gymnast of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Temple junior Ariana Castrence was named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week on Tuesday after a record-breaking weekend for the Owls.
Castrence had one of the most impressive weekends in Temple gymnastics history. The junior put up two scores that exceeded the Owls' program record All-Around total, going 9.800 or better in all eight routines she competed.
On Friday, Castrence won three events, bars (9.875), floor (9.875), and the all-around (39.350), with her all-around total breaking the previous best Temple mark of 39.275, which she set last season. On Sunday, she led the Owls to their season-best score of 195.400, again winning three event titles. Castrence won vault (9.850) and floor (9.875) and the all-around (39.325), completing an outstanding 8-for-8 weekend.
Temple gymnastics is ranked #41 in the latest NQS rankings. The Owls have a pair of meets this weekend at Towson.
