4.15.21 | Men's Crew
PHILADELPHIA – After winning two gold medals last weekend in San Diego, the Temple heavyweights travel home to join the lightweights this weekend for the Kerr Cup Regatta. The Varsity Eight boat is looking to continue its winning streak as the boat has yet to lose a race this year while the Second Varsity Eight boat attempts to make it back-to-back victories.
The last time out at the Kerr Cup, the Owls managed to grab two medals: one gold and one silver. In the petite final, the Owls finished in 6:16.76, giving them a victory ahead of Army West Point, Rutgers, La Salle, Lehigh, and Villanova. Temple's second lightweight eight boat earned the silver with a time of 6:18.12, narrowly losing to Drexel.
This year's Kerr Cup features Drexel, Penn, Saint Joseph's, and Washington College.
"After a successful trip out to the west coast, we are excited to be back at home on the Schuylkill," head coach Brian Perkins said. "Drexel and Penn offered a great challenge for our boats a few weeks ago when we opened our season, and we are expecting an even greater challenge this weekend."
For Saturday, races start at 10:00 a.m. with the third varsity eight boat getting the festivities started. The Owls' varsity eight boat is the last race of the day for Temple as the boats hit the water at 2:10 p.m.
Live racing results will be tweeted from @Temple_MCrew as well as the @temple.crew Instagram story.
