Fencing Announces 2021 Signees

PHILADELPHIA - Temple fencing head coach Dr. Nikki Franke has announced the 2021 Signing Class, adding five newcomers to the roster.Â
"We are very pleased to welcome these outstanding student-athletes to North Broad Street," Franke said. "They are a dynamic, interesting group of young ladies that I am sure will contribute significantly to our program. They are well trained and come with a vast amount of national and international experience which will be a big asset. They are passionate about fencing, hardworking, and wholly embrace our team values. Their dedication and energy will make them a valuable addition to our team for years to come."
Constança Dimas | Foil | Lisbon, Portugal |Â Ginásio Clube Português
Four-time member of the national championship team from 2018-2020 with her club...Competed as an initiate (U-14) and a cadet (U-16) in 2018, a junior (U-19) in 2019, and a cadet in 2020...Was a member of the soccer team, cross country team, and varsity volleyball team at her high school...Intends to major in biology.
Arwen Gormley | Sabre | Natick, Mass. | Zeta Fencing Studios
Was Top-16 and earned bronze at the 2020 Junior Olympics, where she was a captain...Has finished in the Top-8 at multiple regional tournaments since her freshman year...Undeclared major but intends to focus on science and technology.
Cindy Long | Epee | Warren, N.J. | Medeo Fencing Club
3rd place Centrulo's and Santelli's her junior year...Placed 3rd in the Dec NAC DV2WE and 10th in the October NAC DV2WE her junior year...Finished 6th in the April NAC DV2WE her sophomore year...4th place Santelli's and 18th Centrulo's her freshman year...Intends to major in computer science.

Team finished Top-16 in Division I at the Ohio NAC her junior year...First place medalist at the Northwestern Remenyik in 2018 and 2019...Finished seventh in Juniors at the Kansas City NAC her sophomore year...Team finished second at the Cincinnati NAC her sophomore year...Finished first in Division II at the Ohio NAC and third in Cadets at the Utah Summer NAC her freshman year...Older sister Elizabeth is a freshman on the Temple fencing team...Undeclared major but intends to focus on medicine.

Finished first in the cadet national rankings and fifth in the junior national ranking at the European Championship her junior year...Finished third in the Bucarest European Cadet Circuit her junior year...Team finished first in the cadet and junior national ranking at the European Championship her junior year...Finished first in the cadet ranking and fifth in the junior ranking at the Spanish Championship her sophomore year...Team finished second in the cadet ranking and first in the junior ranking at the Spanish Championship her sophomore year...Finished first in the cadet ranking and in the Tableau of 8 in the junior ranking of the Spanish Championship her freshman year...Team finished first in the cadet ranking and third in the junior ranking at the Spanish Championship her freshman year...Undeclared major but intends to focus on technology.
