Golf Falls to 8th Place After Day Two of AAC Championship

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – Temple struggled from the start of the second round in dropping one spot to eighth place at the 2021 American Athletic Conference Championship, which is being held at the Southern Hills Plantation Club.
Recapping the Day
> Sophomore Graham Chase led the Owls on the day, shooting a two-over 74 for his round. Chase, who recovered from a four-over front nine to go two-under after the turn. He also had the highlight of the day for the Cherry and White, chipping in from 87 yards for an eagle 3 on the 12th hole. He is tied for 25th with a four-over 148.
> Junior Conor McGrath, who shot an even par 72 on Friday, was three-over for his round to tied for 21st. He had two birdies on the day.
> Junior Buddy Hansen, who shot a four-over 76, and senior Dawson Anders (+5, 77) rounded out the Temple scorers. Anders is tied for 33rd with an eight-over 150 while Hansen is 39th (+11).
> Sophomore Andrew Curran rounded out the Owls five with a six-over 78.
The Field
> USF, ranked 35th in the latest rankings, continues to lead the field, but top-seed and #20 SMU picked up six strokes on the Bulls and are now just 11 back.
> Wichita State, which was in eighth after day one, had the best round of the day which featured tough, windy conditions. The Shockers were nine-under 279 and picked 12 shots on USF to sit in third place, 14 back of USF and one stroke ahead of East Carolina and Memphis.
> Wichita State's Marcus Wochner lead the 40-player field with an eight-under 136.
