Emmerich Paces Owls at Ironwood Collegiate Classic

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Senior Aidan Emmerich posted a final-round, four-under par round of 68 to lead the Temple University golf team on the second and final day of the Ironwood Collegiate Classic on Monday. Round three turned out to be the best round of the tournament for the Owls at three-under par 285.

- The opening 18 holes of the day saw sophomores William Jun and Mason Tomé post rounds of one-under par 71 and even-par 72, respectively.
- Jun had a run of three straight birdies on holes 7-9, and closed his round with five birdies overall.
- Tomé tallied 14 pars on his round and had back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eighth.
- Emmerich shot a two-over par 74 on his second round, but bounced back in impressive fashion.
- The Swampscott, Mass. product birdied his first hole of the day (the par-5 seventh), and followed with a sequence of birdie-birdie-par-eagle on holes 13-16 to move to five-under par on his round.
- A bogey on the 17th was a minor bump in the road, as Emmerich posted seven straight pars to close out his impressive round.
- Emmerich's top round moved him into the tournament's top 20 (tie for 18th), while Jun was the next best finisher for the Owls in 27th place at even par for the event.
- East Carolina was the team champion, with ECU's Philip Bondestad earning medalist honors at 11-under par.
- Temple continues its fall season on Oct. 13-14 at the Elon Phoenix Invitational in North Carolina.
