Gee Earns Silver on Second Day of AAC Championship

TAMPA, Fla. – Graduate student Emma Gee finished second in the 3000m steeplechase Saturday evening to earn the Temple track and field team their second medal of the 2021 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship.
Meet Highlights
> In the Owls' final event of the day, Gee crossed the finish line at 10:14.93 to earn silver in the 3000m steeplechase and give Temple eight points towards their overall team score.
> Earlier in the day, Sophia Gulotti completed the heptathlon with a personal-best 4356 points to finish 15th in the event.
> The sophomore finished sixth in the 800m with a time of 2:25.27, just one second behind her personal best. Gulotti recorded a 4.79m in the long jump and a 26.47m in the javelin.
> In the long jump, Tannekee Strachan jumped 5.53m for 22nd place.
> Lea Kerbiriou recorded a personal-best 2:07.93 in the 800m to finish second in her heat and qualified for tomorrow's finals. Right behind her was Alanna Lally in third with her qualifying time of 2:08.03.
> In the second 800m heat, Helene Gottlieb finished third with her mark of 2:09.55 to advance to tomorrow's finals.
> Marissa White finished first in her heat for the 400m with her time of 54.40. The junior will race in the 400m finals tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
> Both Chelby Elam and Chidumga Nkulume registered personal bests in the 100m with respective times of 11.72 and 11.86.

> The final day of the AAC will begin at 2:30 p.m. Strachan competing in the triple jump followed by Aisha Brown and Nicole Castor competing in the high jump at 4:30 p.m.
