Women's Rowing Earns Four Medals at Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's rowing team had a very successful day at the 2021 Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta, earned medals in four of their five entries.The Owls also made some noise in the final race of the day, earning a bronze medal in the varsity eight final. It was the first medal in the team's top boat since 1999.
Team Effort
> Temple started the afternoon session of racing with Megan Combs rowing to a silver medal in the women's collegiate single. The Owl senior captain was a mere two seconds behind Princeton and nearly 18 seconds ahead of third place Oklahoma City.
> Next up the Owls' third varsity eight, stroked by senior DaeAijah Covert, won by open water over Drexel (10 seconds behind) and Fordham (23 seconds back).
> The junior varsity eight race followed with Temple's second eight, stroked by senior Claire Savage, finishing second to Drexel by 6.5 seconds.
> Temple's varsity four, stroked by freshman Lily Bielinski, was the only Owls boat to miss the medal stand, placing fourth in the final to two Princeton fours and Lafayette.
> In the final event of the Regatta, fifth-year senior Megan Cook stroked the Owls' varsity eight to its first Dad Vail medal in over 20 years. Drexel and Princeton ran one-two, with Temple besting Saint Joseph's for third by over six seconds.
