The 2020-21 Foil MVP goes to Megan Ross!
The 2020-21 fencing team’s Most Valuable Fencer for the foil squad was squad leader, Megan Ross. Megan is a graduating senior from Fairport, N.Y. and was a tremendous role model for a very young foil squad. Megan’s career record is 122-95 and in addition to working steadily to improve her own fencing this year, she was also instrumental to the foil squad’s success. During the season, Megan went 2-0 against stiff competition from Northwestern, Air Force, and NJIT. She was always supportive of her teammates and her calm demeanor was very reassuring to the other foilists. In addition to her leadership on the strip, Megan was an outstanding Engineering student who was not only named to the President’s Honor Roll for having a Cumulative GPA of 4.0 but was also named one of the Athletic Department’s “Trustee Ten” for having one of the top ten Cumulative GPA’s in the entire Athletic Department.
It has been such a joy to coach Megan these past four years. She has improved so much during her time at Temple because of her strong work ethic. Megan was a relentless competitor and someone I knew I could always depend on, both on and off the strip. She was a great team leader and earned the respect of both her teammates and coaches.-- head coach Dr. Nikki Franke
