PHILADELPHIA -- Temple Gymnastics Head Coach Josh Nilson has announced that All-American gymnast Kierstin Sokolowski will serve as an assistant coach for the Owls, beginning with the 2021-22 season.

"From the first time I met Kierstin, I knew she was extremely driven and talented," said Nilson. "Her desire to improve and help those around her improve was immediately apparent. She is a highly decorated collegiate gymnast herself who still holds many records at Lindenwood University. That experience is going to help her easily transition into a collegiate coach. Having her competitive drive on staff is going to help us take the next step as a team."

The most decorated gymnast in Lindenwood history, Sokolowski, a Forked River, N.J. native, ended her collegiate career as a ten-time All-American, including seven first-team honors. She was the USA Gymnastics Collegiate All-Around Champion in 2015, also winning a pair of vault national titles during her career.

"In recent years, Temple Gymnastics has leveled up in every way," said Sokolowski. "The opportunity for me to coach at a University that has shown so much grit and heart, in all athletic departments, is a true honor. I'm so thrilled to be part of a team who's hunger is evident and potential is limitless. Go Owls!"

Sokolowski put Division II Lindenwood on the map in the collegiate gymnastics world, helping the Lions to a pair of USAG National Championships, four-straight MIC titles, and three NCAA Division I Regionals team bids.

Individually, Sokolowski qualified to the NCAA Regional competition in the All-Around in 2015, and on both vault and beam in 2017 and 2018. She holds the Lindenwood program records on beam (9.950) and bars (9.900), and is second all-time in program history on vault (9.9375), floor (9.900) and in the all-around (39.300).

A two-time USAG Scholar-Athlete award winner, Sokolowski earned a Bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurial Studies from Lindenwood in 2018.
