Grimshaw, Danielson Named Preseason All-Conference

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple volleyball players Gem Grimshaw and Falanika Danielson both represented Temple on the American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team. The 12-player list was voted on by the league's coaches and released on Wednesday.

A returning first-team All-Conference selection, Grimshaw filled the right side position for the Owls much of last season season, recording 3.42 kills and 2.69 digs per set, adding 43 blocks and 20 aces. She had the best hitting percentage of Temple's pin hitters (.233) and recorded 10 double-doubles, improving her career number to 14. Grimshaw had double-digit kill performances in 13 of 17 matches last season, including a season-best 20 in the AAC Championship match.

Last season, Danielson, the AAC Libero of the Year, became the first Temple freshman to earn an All-Conference honor since Dara Peric in 2014. She notched double-digit dig performances in 15 of 16 matches for the Owls, including nine matches with 20 or more digs. Danielson also racked up a career-high 32 digs in a win over Delaware. She closed the season by being named an AVCA Honorable Mention All-Region selection.

As a team, Temple finished 11-6 overall and advanced all the way to the AAC Championship game. The Owls were picked to finish sixth this season in the AAC Preseason Poll.

The Owls open the 2021 season by hosting the Temple Invitational on August 27 and 28. The event features Stanford, Rider, and Delaware.
