Volleyball Captains Poised to Lead Young Owls in 2021

Temple volleyball has announced its captain for the 2021 season - Katerina Papazoglou, Gem Grimshaw, and Xeryah Salanoa. Papazoglou is in her fifth year playing for the Cherry & White, while Grimshaw and Salanoa are in their fourth seasons on North Broad Street.
This trio led the Owls to a runner-up finish at the American Athletic Conference Tournament last season and are poised to lead a young Temple squad which features 11 underclassmen.
Here's what they had to say about being named captains:
It's an honor to be one of the captains of this team. It shows that my team trusts me to lead them and help them when needed. Through this process I can learn how to collaborate better with my teammates and how to support and help them. My goal for this season is to keep the bond of our team aa strong as possible especially when things aren't going the way we want. With that being said, if we stay together and work together as team more wins and successes will come and I am glad to be part of this process.Katerina Papazoglou
I’m really excited to be chosen as a captain because I feel like it is a position that doesn’t come naturally for me. Being captain pushes me out of my comfort zone, but also gives me confidence to lead the team. All of the captains agree that this season is important to build on what we accomplished last semester. We have a good amount of returning, experienced players along with a talented freshmen class so I’m looking forward to see what we’re capable of this season.Gem Grimshaw
It is an honor and a privilege to have been chosen by my teammates and coaches to serve as a team captain this year. I am very grateful for this opportunity to represent Temple University and our Volleyball program. I look forward to playing a role in leading this dedicated group of athletes for the 2021 season.
