Football To Wear Flight 93 Helmet Sticker Against Akron
9.11.21 | Football
PHILADELPHIA - In today's game against Akron, Temple football will wear a Flight 93 sticker on the back of its helmets to honor the victims from September, 11, 2001 in which 40 passengers and crew lost their lives from Flight 93 that was hijacked and crashed in Shanksville, Pa.
Earlier this year in August, the Temple football team visited the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in an effort to learn more about that fateful day.
"It certainly evoked way more emotions than I thought it would ever evoke," head coach Rod Carey said last month. "I saw it evoke similar emotion out of some our guys who were two or three or not even born when it happened, and I remember my parents talking to me about JFK and Dr. Martin Luther King, and they knew where they were when that happened, and I knew where I was in 2001, so I felt that it was important to pass that down."

"To experience and witness the courage and heroism of so many people on that day... I think was a good experience for us to have as a team and as a family." -@GinfanteMT #OwlDaily🦉 | #TempleTUFF🏈 pic.twitter.com/bFaqMWjhH3
